Springing Forward

We love to spring forward.  More daylight when we get home from work to do the fun stuff.  We had a great New Year celebration and are excited for spring and summer.  We can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for us!  Looking back, I can't believe it's been two years since we sold our little home and 10 acres.  Since then, we've built a small barn home in the middle of 80 acres by ourselves with the help of family and friends.  From putting in all the water, electric, walls, fences, etc.  I'm pretty proud of the progress we've made.

Drummer Boy is about to finish his first year of college.  We can't wait to have him home for the summer.  We've found new ideas with the house build, hope and pray we are on the right path towards construction, and made our final changes to the plans, (thankfully).  Even mapped out the house on the ground with spray paint.  Pretty neat to put up posts to show just where we want the house to sit.

As we continue to prepare to build, we have been working to get other things done.  Because we know once we get started on construction, that will be our life.  So since February, we've added gravel to the driveway ourselves, one load at a time.  And Country Boy built the gateway and entrance and my dad helped get it set up.

We put in a culvert to help with drainage then brought in gravel with the old dump truck.

Home Sweet Home, for now.

We made it to the month of March.

Country Boy built our entryway gate.

And he welded the entryway.
Once he welded one side, the backhoe helped turn it over to weld the other side.

Here is the gate and gateway, (before the gate was hung up).
Next up, finish welding the pipe fence line from the gate, then paint it all.
The gate is now hung with the automatic gate opener and is functional.
I'll take a photo once it is completely finished.

The month of May is almost here.  I must be solar powered, because the warmer weather is giving me a boost of energy.  I have plans to take my horse to some barrel races.  Here is a cool snapshot of us during practice at home.  Wish us luck!

We will be hosting Easter with both our families at the 80 and we can't wait.
Till then, we keep riding forward and keeping the faith!
